How To Make Your Manicure Last Longer Over Christmas

It’s that time of year again…the air is 99% glitter and our diet consists mostly of advent chocolates. We’ve heard nothing but Mariah Carey on the radio for weeks. Christmas is officially here. We hope you’re loving your festive mani as much as we’ve loved creating them this month. Here are our top tips on how to make your manicure last even longer over the Christmas season.

“Oil I Want For Christmas Is You”

Our CND Shellac manicures can last for 14+ days, but with all the chaos of the festive season, there isn’t always time for a repair or touch-up. We think it’s the little things that can make a big difference to how our manicure looks and lasts. This includes the products we use to take care of our nails.

At Nataya Beauty, we love to use the fabulous Solar Oil at the end of our CND Shellac treatments. It helps to create stronger, healthier nails and hydrate the cuticle area. If you’re looking to make your manicure last as long as possible, it’s a great plan to keep using this award-winning oil. Just pop a little on to your cuticle area daily and gently massage it in. It’s a little bit of luxury for your nails and is perfect for keeping your skin and nails moisturised. It’s no wonder the Solar Oil is referred to as a “miracle manicure in a bottle”. We can also recommend the Famous Names “Dadi’Oil”. Dadi’ Oil originally launched in the US in January 2012, created by Jim Nordstrom, the original formulator of CND Solar Oil. 95% Certified Organic and made up of more than 20 naturally derived ingredients

Put Gloves On Your Xmas List

We’re not talking a nice pair of woolly mittens here (although those sound lovely too) but rather a good pair of rubber gloves. We know this sounds odd, but hear us out. Getting into the habit of wearing protective rubber gloves when you’re using household products, or doing the washing up after Christmas dinner – is something we highly recommend.

Some of the chemicals in cleaning products can damage your Shellac manicure, so a sturdy pair of gloves will definitely come in handy. If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off for some winter sunshine this Christmas, it’s also worth noting that some suntan oils and insect repellents contain DEET. This can also cause your Shellac polish to lift from your nails. Be sure to minimise this by washing your hands thoroughly after using any of these products.

“It’s The Most Colourful Time Of The Year”

Feel like temporarily switching up the colour of your Shellac manicure over Christmas? Easy – you can simply use a nail enamel over the top. Just be sure to use an ‘acetone free’ remover when taking off the nail polish after. Remember that this is only a quick-fix solution. We don’t recommend several colour changes as this can start to affect you gel polish underneath. After all, we know that last minute colour scheme changes do happen, whether it’s an outfit swap or an urge to rock a different shade for your New Year’s Eve party.

Why not book in your January CND Shellac manicure appointment at Nataya Beauty in Manchester City Centre before you wind down for Christmas? Making a New Year’s Resolution to treat yourself to regular manicures is a great way to show yourself a little love. Get in touch and let’s chat about how we can help you start 2018 looking and feeling fabulous!
